The International Topper Class Association is holding their next World Championships in Pwllheli, North Wales.  As the International Topper is an ISAF recognised centreboard dinghy, the winners of these Championships are recognised by ISAF as World Champions.

The International Class runs two World Championship series, the first for male and female sailors generally 13 years of age and above with an expected fleet of between 150 and 200 competitors. The second World Championship will be on a separate course for younger sailors using the smaller 4.2m2 sail and with about 20 competitors

The International Class will also be running an International Masters Championship open to male and female sailors aged 25 years of age and over.  This will not be an ISAF event.

The World Championships this year will be immediately preceded by the British National Championships - so Topper sailors are encouraged to enter both events and enjoy two back-to-back weeks of exciting racing - with a 3 day rest period between events.

An Event Website has been created by Clwb Hwlyio Pwllheli with many useful details, including accommodation and the local area.

An exciting lineup of events has been scheduled for this year's World Championships.

The entry fee for the World Championships will be £235.  Click here for Online registration and here for the Notice of Race.

This price will be reduced to £205 if the sailor is also entering the British National Championships the week before.

Rib registration is essential and parents/coaches bringing ribs are asked to contact the Andy Millington at ribs@itcaworld.org, or the International Secretary, Michelle Hill.

Volunteers would be much appreciated both onshore and on the water.  Please contact the ITCA Secretariat if you are able to help in any way.  Thank you!

Measurement will be on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August.  Please download, complete and bring along the Measurement Form from this link..

It will be necessary to download, complete and bring to registration the Declaration form.  If the parent or legal guardian is not attending please still fill in the required section but also ensure that the nominated loco parentis section is filled in before registration.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the racing at the 2013 World Championships at Loctudy. The wind was quite steady but it was tricky to deal with waves and current at the starting line. At the beginning I wasn’t confident enough to take risks but as the week progressed I tried some strategies out. I remained concentrated on my sailing and remembered that at the end of the day constant results are more effective than trying to win each leg. The support of my teammates, family and friends throughout the event was invaluable, and I am delighted to have brought the World Championship trophy to Ireland for the first time." - Liam Glynn, Ireland, 2013 International Topper Class World Champion

“We had a fantastic time and although it was the first time that Sam had sailed a Topper he really enjoyed the class. The other competitors were very helpful and the coaching and training support from the association was amazing. Sam made some great friendships in the short time and tells all the other RSA sailors what they missed! Thanks again for a very well run event and the lovely atmosphere between competitors and parents.” - The Lombaard Family, South Africa

“I had an amazing experience at the Topper Worlds, and made some really good friends! Hope to see you soon at the next Topper event!” - Avanti Menon, India

“It was an absolute pleasure for us to have met all the organisers and other parents and sailors. We were met and welcomed by everybody, and truly treated like old friends. Our sailors learnt a lot from the coaches, and really appreciated the effort and dedication they showed whilst training them. All these people, and other people we dealt with during the event truly went out of their way to make us feel welcome and part of the family. For me personally, it was an eye- opener to actually see the scale and magnitude of sailing in Europe and England, especially in the Topper Class.” - The Nortje Family, South Africa

“I managed to win the Italian National under-18 Laser 4.7 championships. After this I was told ‘seeing that you have taken part in all these championships, you should try the Topper worlds …. maybe you can even win it!  So I tried and I am happy to have won the Topper Worlds – it was a real challenge and exciting especially as the boat is not very easy and very challenging and technical to understand and sail well.” - Michele Benamatti, Italy , 2010 International Topper Class World Champion
