The first Topper sail donated by UK sailors to youngster of the Skipper Foundation, Mossel Bay, South Africa has been delivered. With all their original sails completely worn out, the Skipper Foundation charity was unable to get their Toppers afloat. The sailors there are so pleased to have received a replacement sail, kindly donated by Cathy Brassington, that they sent this message to say thank you.

Film maker Phill Williams has produced a great promo film from the footage gathered at the recent Topper Worlds in Medemblik. Feel free to share it with your local Topper fleet and use it to promote the Topper class in your region.

You may have read of the great work going on at the Skipper Foundation in the May ITCA World newsletter, where the charity run by Elfie Holden is training 60 disadvantaged youths from Mossel Bay to learn to sail. The charity seeks to positively influence the lives of children from vulnerable areas and to provide a safe environment for them to learn not only sailing but also life skills.

ITCA World has received the following notice from Topper International concerning the new Lower Mast Foot bung that was released earlier this year:

Topper International will shortly be launching a new style 5.3 sail. The class association would like to take this opportunity to standardise the colour and shape of sail numbers on Topper Sails. The class association therefore intends to make changes to the class rules to require the sail numbers on all new 5.3 sails to be black Topper Numbers, that is to say numbers cut from black digital 8s to the shape specificed in the class rules.
